WHAT WE DO HERE:
ATX Theatre highlights Austin’s plethora of theatrical experiences to welcome local audiences into authentic engagement with theatremakers over time. Behind the scenes, it unites theatremakers (Austin’s 80 theatre companies and 2500 theatre artists) with force-multiplying initiatives that value efficiency, affordability, professional development, and collaboration over competition. Join ATXtheatre.org for FREE to get our weekly theatre guide!
Welcome to our home.
Thanks to the Bennett Raccah Charitable Trust, ATX Theatre offers a bright, welcoming, and affordable creative space for rehearsals, workshops, community-building, and arts industry gatherings! This nest for our grassroots arts services nonprofit expands opportunity and accessibility for local artists and creative groups to gather in a safe, collaborative setting ~ surrounded by other creatives in The Sanctuary.

• A map to the space is below the calendar... The calendar works best on a computer, not a phone.

The Sanctuary Rules
Treat others as you would have them treat you. Please consider yourself a fellow Steward of The Sanctuary/CCC campus. Let ATX Theatre, ACA, or Central Christian representatives know if something breaks or has been vandalized. To keep this space affordable, please live by the following guidelines while here.
ATX Theatre/The Sanctuary/CCC Guest Agreements ~ by reserving space at The Sanctuary, you agree to:
1. Enter and exit via the rear corner door of the building only. For the safety of all within The Sanctuary, always fully close and latch the door.
2. No door propping. If you cannot monitor the door for your participants, give them a cell # to contact you so someone can go open the door.
3. Use of the elevator is authorized for freight only. The elevator is not for general use. (Y’all. It’s OLD.) Please let us know if there is an accessibility issue that we might be able to help with in some other way. This historic building (designated as such) has limitations.
4. No animals are allowed in the building except service animals.
5. Stay in the area of your scheduled activity. Don’t wander the buildings or give yourself tours. A CCC staffer can provide tours during office hours. We and you are renting ONE ROOM, not the whole building.
6. Do not smoke (anything) in the buildings.
7. Alcohol and controlled substances are prohibited everywhere on the CCC campus.
8. Please do not use the doorbell of the church to attempt to gain access. Text or call your hosting group directly. (The doorbell calls the pastors at home.)
9. If you see anything amiss with the building (smoke, leaks, running toilet, gas smell, plugs or lights working erratically), please call Brad, the facility manager. His number is posted in our space. This sweet old historic building relies on all of its users to be stewards, including you. Thank you.
Additional Policies & Philosophies
• The Sanctuary is a haven, an oasis, a refuge, a safe and supportive community, a place set apart. To the wider community, we all represent The Sanctuary and Central Christian Church.
• Maintain and protect the basic rights of all and ensure that basic needs are met in this space. Show respect for all people. Acknowledge everyone’s humanity and unique personhood.
• Even if we must ask someone to move along because they are not able to maintain basic boundaries, we can ask respectfully.
• The wider community is encouraged to enjoy the gardens and grounds of CCC; but are discouraged from littering and prohibited from camping.
• See something, say something. No one is expected to function as “Security,” but please share activities/behaviors that warrant calling Security/APD.
• Unhoused or other neighbors in need sometimes come to the door asking for assistance. If a Pastor is on-site, please notify them. If not, please inform the person in need that they can come back during posted Church office hours. Handouts that list community/housing resources are on site, and you may share them with anyone in need.
